Playa San Agustinillo

Playa San Agustinillo stretches along three connected bays with golden sand beaches where the Sierra Madre del Sur mountains meet the Pacific Ocean. The three sections serve different purposes for swimming, sunbathing, and water sports.

The village grew from a sea turtle fishing community into a tourism destination after Mexico established marine protection laws in the 1990s. This shift transformed how locals earned their living and shaped the settlement's character.

Local fishermen practice traditional handcrafts and set out at dawn in small boats, selling their catches directly to restaurants and visitors throughout the day.

The beach is easy to reach with distinct conditions across its sections: the western area suits swimmers, the middle for sunbathing, and the eastern part for experienced surfers. Arriving early lets visitors watch fishing activity and catch the best wave conditions.

Between December and March, visitors can watch whales and dolphins from shore or join guided boat tours with local fishermen. This seasonal migration transforms the location into an exceptional marine mammal viewing spot.
