Piru Mansion, Victorian mansion in Piru, United States
The Piru Mansion is a four-story house built in the Queen Anne style with detailed woodwork, ornate trim, and large arched windows throughout. The structure displays characteristic architectural details that define this late-nineteenth-century design approach.
David C. Cook built the mansion in 1886 with the goal of creating a fruit-growing estate, using natural gas but no electricity in the design. After complete destruction by fire in 1981, the property was rebuilt to match its original form based on historical documents.
The mansion serves as a filming location for movies and television, having appeared in shows like The X-Files and other Hollywood productions over the decades.
Visitors should arrange visits ahead of time since access to the property may be limited and gates are not always open to the public. Checking current conditions before traveling helps ensure a successful trip without unexpected closures or restrictions.
The mansion experienced a major fire that completely destroyed the structure in 1981. Rebuilders relied on historical photographs to reconstruct the house exactly as it originally appeared, making it a notable case of historical restoration.
