Europa-Park, Amusement park in Rust, Germany
Europa-Park is an amusement park near Rust with 100 rides and 14 roller coasters spread across 20 themed areas representing different European countries. The resort covers 95 hectares with attractions for all ages, from family sections to high-speed rides.
The Mack family opened the park in 1975 on a site where they previously manufactured amusement rides, drawing 250,000 visitors in the first year. Since then, the resort has grown steadily, adding new themed areas and attractions.
Each country has its own area with buildings and gardens that recall the region, while visitors walk through reconstructed villages and squares. Restaurants serve typical dishes, and dancers and musicians perform in traditional costumes on outdoor stages.
The park opens from 11:00 to 19:00 in winter and from 9:00 to 18:00 between April and November, depending on the season. Comfortable shoes are recommended, as the paths between areas can be long.
Silver Star ranks among Europe's tallest roller coasters at 240 feet (73 meters) and reaches 81 miles per hour (130 kilometers per hour) on a 1620-meter track. The family coaster Wodan features a wooden structure and passes through an artificial flame display.
