Wodan - Timburcoaster, Wooden roller coaster in Europa-Park, Rust, Germany
Wodan - Timburcoaster is a wooden roller coaster in Europa-Park, Rust, Germany, extending over 1050 meters of track and reaching heights of 40 meters. The ride features multiple drops and turns through the Iceland section of the park, using classic wooden construction for a dynamic experience.
Great Coasters International built this wooden roller coaster, which opened to visitors on March 31, 2012 as the first wooden attraction at Europa-Park. It marked a new direction for the park, previously known primarily for steel constructions.
The name combines Wodan, derived from the Germanic god Odin, with Timbur, the Icelandic word for wood, reflecting Norse mythology. This connection appears throughout the Iceland section of the park, where the track weaves between structures inspired by Scandinavian design.
Three trains accommodate 24 riders each, with a minimum height requirement of 120 centimeters (47 inches) and a capacity of around 1250 visitors per hour. Wait times vary by time of day, but the station is easily accessible in the rear section of the park.
The queue line features projection mapping, smoke screens, and an appearance by Hel, the Norse goddess of the underworld, building anticipation before the ride. This elaborate staging turns waiting into its own part of the experience.
