Atlantica SuperSplash, Water coaster at Europa-Park, Germany
Atlantica SuperSplash is a water coaster within Europa-Park that stretches 390 meters and climbs to 30 meters high. The ride features two major descents and a splash zone where water sprays across the boats and surrounding area.
Built by Mack Rides as a SuperSplash model, Atlantica SuperSplash opened on 19 March 2005 for Europa-Park's 30th anniversary and was formally inaugurated on 12 July 2005. It became the founding attraction of the Portugal themed area, also created that year. The layout matches Journey to Atlantis at SeaWorld San Antonio except for the airtime hill after the final drop.
The ride is themed on Portuguese conquistadors. The queue runs through a boat named Santa Marian and a small fort, and the station is built as a 16th-century citadel; boats are 16-seat Portuguese vessels. A souvenir shop stands at the exit, where a photo stand operated until the end of the 2006 season before moving to Poséidon.
Riders must be at least 100 centimeters tall to board, and children under 130 centimeters need adult supervision during the ride. The three-minute journey includes water-splashing sections, so expect to get wet or bring a change of clothes.
The magnetic brakes sit just before the boat enters the lake, not beneath the whole track. They are switched off in warm weather and active in cold weather, so the size of the splash can be controlled.
