Alpenexpress Enzian, Powered roller coaster at Europa-Park, Germany.
The Alpenexpress Enzian is a powered roller coaster with 10 cars that carry 38 passengers total and winds through artificial caves and recreated mountain landscapes. The ride reaches speeds of 45 kilometers per hour and travels over a distance of 264 meters.
This was Europa-Park's first roller coaster when it opened in 1984 for visitors. After a fire in 2023, the entire structure was completely rebuilt and updated.
The ride recreates an Austrian mining expedition and features traditional Alpine architecture that transports visitors into a historical mountain world. The design with wooden structures and regional details reflects the appearance of old mountain villages from the area.
The ride travels mostly indoors through artificial environments, offering protection from bad weather. Because of its moderate height and speed, this coaster is suitable for beginners and less intense than other major attractions.
The tracks use electric contact rails to supply power, allowing each car to control its speed independently. This system enables smooth acceleration and deceleration throughout the ride, unlike traditional roller coasters.
