Silver Star, Hypercoaster in Europa-Park, Germany
Silver Star is a steel hypercoaster at Europa-Park in Rust, Germany, running along 1,620 meters of track while climbing to 73 meters and reaching speeds of 130 kilometers per hour. Three trains carrying 36 passengers each move through the entire layout, navigating multiple camelback hills and an S-bend section.
Built by Swiss manufacturer Bolliger & Mabillard, the installation opened to the public on March 23, 2002 at Europa-Park. It held the title of tallest and fastest roller coaster in Europe at the time of its opening, setting a new benchmark for thrill rides on the continent.
Racing motifs appear throughout the ride, from the sleek curves that echo motorsport tracks to the exhibition displays visitors encounter near the boarding platform. Guests settle into seats arranged like sports car cockpits, with open-air restraints allowing an unobstructed view downward.
Visitors must measure at least 140 centimeters tall to board, with staff checking height at the entrance to the ride. Wait times vary depending on the time of day and crowd levels, so arriving early in the morning or late afternoon often leads to shorter queues.
Magnetic brakes along the camelback hills regulate speed with precision, creating moments when riders lift from their seats and feel weightless. The open design without inversions allows riders to keep their eyes on the park and surrounding countryside throughout the entire journey.
