Schloss Balthasar, Medieval château in Rust, Germany
The rectangular Renaissance building features three floors, an octagonal tower on the east side, and two bay windows surrounded by park grounds.
The water castle was established in 1442 by the Boecklin zu Boecklinsau noble family, one of the oldest aristocratic lineages from Strasbourg.
The castle restaurant maintains medieval dining traditions by hosting Baden knights' feasts and regional culinary experiences in its historic halls.
The castle is accessible exclusively through Europa-Park and houses an upscale restaurant serving regional specialties to park visitors.
A Gothic stair tower remains visible from the town of Rust, while the former moat, once fed by Junkerbach stream, encircles the structure.
